Case Study - A club site that became easier to find and easier to join

Sparta Table Tennis Club needed to fix two problems at once: the old site was hard to find, and once people landed on it, the information and design did not make the club easy to understand.

Rebuilt the public story around the basics new players need first: where the club is, who it is for, and how a first visit works.
Made session types, opening hours, membership details, and contact-first guidance much easier to scan.
The clearer presence now supports regular enquiries; membership is currently full, with new interest handled through guest visits.

The starting point

Sparta already had an established club, but the website was not helping people discover it or feel confident about taking the next step. It was hard to find, the design felt dated, and the practical information did not give new players a clean route into the club.

Where new visitors were losing confidence

For someone arriving for the first time, the questions are simple: where is the club, what kind of players does it suit, which sessions are relevant, and do I need to contact someone before turning up? When those answers are buried or presented weakly, even interested people hesitate.

What we changed

The site was reorganised around those first-visit decisions. Find Us, Membership, Opening Hours, and contact routes became much more visible. The copy was tightened so guests can quickly understand the difference between open sessions, match nights, junior sessions, and the contact-first rule before visiting.

The outcome

The website now does a much better job of helping the club get found, judged, and contacted. The club receives enquiries almost every day. Membership places are currently full, so new interest is being handled through guest visits rather than immediate sign-ups.

What became easier

  • The club is easier to discover.

Sparta now has a clearer public presence for people searching locally for a table tennis club they can actually join or visit.

  • First-time players know the practical next step.

Session types, opening hours, and guest guidance are easier to follow before someone gets in touch.

  • The committee has one clearer source of truth.

Membership and visit information now live in a structure that is easier to keep accurate over time.

Top tip

This example is useful when a local organisation already has real demand, but the website is not doing enough to help people find it or act on it.

  • Search visibility
  • First-visit clarity
  • Session guidance
  • Volunteer-friendly updates

The new site makes the club much easier to find and gives new players and families a much clearer route to getting in touch and coming along.

She Unfolds did not have a website when the project started. The new site needed to introduce the idea clearly and help local women understand the events before deciding to attend.

Tonipress did not have a website when this project started. The goal was to create a credible web presence and make published books easy to browse by title, author, and category.
